Chances are it's not rabid. FYI, opposums absolutely, under no circumstances, can catch rabies. They have bacteria in them that kills it. Call your local animal control ASAP!!!! If you do come across a rabid animal, get a net and a tennis racket. Use the net to catch it, and only use the racket if it lunges at you. Because most "rabid animals" are not actually rabid, try not to hurt it. Chances are it hasn't had food for awhile or has been abused (rocks thrown at it, teased in a live trap).

If you see a wild dog its best to just stay away from then because if it has rabies and bites you, you will be in serious danger. if u ever to get bit go to a hospital and the doctors will inspect the dog's brain for signs of rabies or they will monitor the dog to see if it foams from the mouth or acts out suddenly with fierce aggression. I would just stay with tamed dogs not nosing around with feral ones. Let the professionals do their jobs when it comes to feral animals.
