The next area code splits in the Los Angeles area didn't occur until 1982, when San Diego and Palm Springs split from 714 to 619 (present-day 619, 858, 760, and 442) and 1984, when area code 818 split off from 213 for the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys (present-day 818, 747, and 626).
The area code 213 of the 1960's covered all places that are in today's area codes 213, 323, 310, 424, 562, 626, 818, and 747.
