First don't make the mistake of assuming all Israel are Jews.... Which many people do.

There are 12 tribes of Israel and Judah (Jews) is but one tribe. Further the tribe of Judah was not the tribe of the priests, it was the tribe of the kings of Judah.

The people of the tribe of Judah who resided in Jerusalem with the tribe of Benjamin spoke Hebrew, until the time of Alexander the Great and later his general Ptolemy who forced the Greek language upon the people under their rule. This is why one observes the text shift from Hebrew to Greek between the old and New testaments.
