If the lights don't dim when you try to activate the starter, it's probably not the battery. You can certainly have it tested though. If you know what the different connections on the solenoid do for you, you could try jumping the solenoid to see if you can get the starter to work. If you can make the starter work from the solenoid, you could have a problem with either the neutral safety switch or the keyswitch or possibly some of the wiring or connectors. Unfortunately, the only way to solve something like that is to just isolate the problem and test components.

The positive battery cable is attached to the solenoid and the solenoid is attached to the starter itself.
Usually, the solenoid is mounted on the firewall just above the battery. It has to screw ends and bolts sticking out of it. There is a thin wire that runs from the solenoid to the positive (red) side of the battery.
The starter solenoid is attached to the starter. Follow the positive battery cable from the battery, it will lead you to the starter solenoid. The starter would have to be removed to replace the starter solenoid.
