I was just looking for this... the google-consensus is that it is in fact a tropical biome with a 12-month growing season. The only confirmation I got was a USDA Agriculture pdf, which mentions it offhand, and a blog based out of Hilo, Hawaii. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/publications/biotechnology/content/printable_version/BRS_FS_Hawaii_02-06.pdf http://hiloliving.blogspot.com/2008/08/hawaii-home-in-hilo.html it is in fact 12 months im in a home schooling program and it was one of my projects.
For the best results they usually tell you to wait till April 28 to start planting again. This is due to the fact that there is only a 10% chance of another frosting after that date. From there the growing season on average lasts about 200 days from April 28th.
