If it had some black on it's wings it sounds like a western tanager.
most probably it is a lesser kingfisher usually found near ponds and lakes in Indian subcontinent.
Check your guide for prothonotary warbler.

No. It has a yellow breast but they have bits of blue on their wings and a blue crown.
If you live in Europe it could quite possibly be a redwing.
If the bird is light to medium blue on wings and back, plus the orange breast, then it might be the Eastern Bluebird.
The Baltimore oriole is a bird that is brightly colored. The male oriole has an orange colored breast with a black head. The female has an yellow-orange breast and a gray colored head.
Hmm. Sounds like it may be a warbler to me. Maybe a Yellow Warbler or a Prothonatary Warbler? It also kind of depends on where you saw it. Check in a field guide, under "warblers".
