In general, all of the bones of the lower body are used for kicking a ball. Even the arms could be considered part of the the action as they are used for balance. Certainly the hips and the bones of the legs are all involved, as are the bones of the foot.

Beginners tend to kick a (soccer) ball with their toes, mainly the big toe. However this gives poor direction control and can break your toe! The proper way is to contact the ball with the top of the foot (just behind the toes - the foot is pointing down at the moment of impact). This gives good control of direction and you can really punch the ball without breaking anything. Dunno the names of the bones - this is a "get the ball rolling" answer (sort of appropriate for this question). -GraL
