Football (the English one...) originated over 400 years ago, where villages, sometimes a mile apart, would kick a bladder around a stretch of countryside and the first one to get it to a set point, or a goal, in the opposing village would win. At these matches, they were incredibly violent and some people even took clubs to them which they would beat the opposition away with.
On the other hand, American Football was created long after this, and some modern day "Soccer" teams, such as Sheffield Wednesday est.1867, are older than the sport of American football which was created at the turn of the 20th century.
soccerAnswerAssociation Football or Soccer came before American Football but Soccer is not the oldest form of football it is just one of a group of games created in England, Ireland, the USA, Australia and other English speaking countries in the 19th Centaury. All these games can trace their origins back to medieval Europe.
