What can a high school student do to prepare for medical school?

Say goodbye to your social life. Say hello to hours of studying, volunteering at clinics and hospitals and anywhere else you can get volunteer hours, getting to know the science professors (remember you gotta do research with them), shadowing MDs and a DO if you want to go into Osteopathic medicine, studying, studying, studying, studying, and more studying. For every B you get, your chances of rejection increase. For every A you get, your chances of rejection decrease. If you even get a C or below, you should probably rethink your future career choice.

∙ 16y agoMake sure you keep your GPA up. Join many extra-curricular activities. If possible, take many honors or AP classes. If your high school has the option of PSOE, try to enroll in that. Anything you can do to get ahead, do it because you will be in school for a long time if you truly want to be a doctor.
