Actually the above answer is incorrect, and even borders on cruelty. The dog may be constipated to the point it can't poop, which can result in a condition called Megacolon. It may need dog specific laxatives, an enema or to be manualy evacuated. Also your dog may have a foreign body obstruction, meaning it ate something non digestable and now it is stuck. This is usually diagnosed by X rays, and treated with exploratory surgey. Best bet is to take him to the vet.
