Colleges are starting to look at much more than your GPA. In particular, colleges want to know what leadership roles you have taken in high school. They also want to see a lot of community service and school involvement. Join clubs inside your school, but, more importantly, join clubs in your community such as the 4H club and be involved with your church if you attend one. These organizations will also be a good source of scholarship money when you apply to college.
The second most important thing that can make you stand out on an application are you SAT and ACT scores. Do everything you can to get the highest score possible. Check out the test websites, practice questions, workshops, and anything else that might help you. High SAT scores can easily earn you admission and a lot of scholarship money.
