I am a licensed cosmetologist. Only recently have I heard of a "degree" in Cosmetology. A stlyist I worked with claimed that having a "degree" in cosmetologist you would be able to work in a lab formulating colors and products. That's so not true. I googled it and it's the same exact thing as being a licensed cosmetologist. But the coarse may be a bit different since it goes more in depth with subject like state law, salon management etc. but as far as I know it is the same thing as being licensed!

How do I get a degree in cosmetology?

You first have to decide which state you wish to practice cometology. Then you have to find out which state-licensed schools offer a cosmetology degree program for that state. You then enroll and fulfill the requirements in pursing that degree. Once you obtained your degree, you still have to pass a state-licensed exam in order to be able to practice cosmetology in that state. Trade schools are where you find training in cosmetology. However a degree is usually not what you earn upon completion. Typically you will earn a certificate that will allow you to take a test that is sponsered by the state which will allow you to work in cosmetology. There are many nationwide schools as well such as TonyandGuy that offer education and training in cosmotology.
