Grooming horses is fun, but if you want to do a superb job you need a large amount of things. Here are the more important ones that you should use, in order, too!
These are usually rubber, and have 'teeth' on one side as well as some form of handle on the other. Put an average amount of pressure on this and rub it in circles around the horse's body. Do not use it on the horse's legs or head. These help loosen fur and help the skin produce natural oils.
This type of brush should be used after the curry comb. This will help brush off anything that the curry stirs up, as well as get off extra dust and unwanted (and/or shedding) fur. Put an average amount of pressure on this brush and follow the path of the fur. It is difficult to use this on the flank, but if you think you can follow that 'grain' go for it.
This brush is softer than a Dandy brush, and the main use is just to add extra shine. They are also okay to use on a horse's head (so long as you take heed to avoid the eyes) as they are soft enough. These are optional unless you do wish to brush the head.
Manes and tails don't always have to be brushed for riding, although I personally suggest it. These are quite obviously combs and hard to mistake, just gently brush out snarls and such. If it's a hard snarl, hold the mane/tail so it does not pull and hurt the horse as much.
Hooves should be picked before every ride, as well as after if you've ridden on particularly rough terrain. These, too, are impossible to mistake. Some come with brushes on the back, which can be used to loosen up extra dirt from the hoof. Use the pick to carefully pick out stones and rocks and dislodge dirt. This keeps the hoof clean and free, which feels better for the horse, and should be done regularly.
A shedding brush only really needs to be used while the horse is shedding. This will help to dislodge unwanted fur and speed up the shedding process. This is very helpful if you are riding in that time of year where they shed as it helps get extra fur off that won't annoy the horse if it is under the saddle.
It is pretty simple you actually use a toothbrush but there are special kinds made especially for dogs to clean them. Use a tooth paste made especially for dogs. DO NOT use toothpaste intended for humans. If dogs swallow it, it will make them sick.
when it comes to brushing a horse, the brushes mainly used are a curry comb and a regular brush. but, if you are trying to give your hose a "shower" you would need a hose, squeegee, shampoo, a variety of rubber brushes, and a towel...then afterwards, use a regular brush.
and when brushing a horse with a curry comb, you typically move it in a circular motion. while with a regular brush, you move the brush in the pattern of the fur.
