Panic attacks is the feeling of something really bad happening to you, and you body reacting to the feeling. Your heart will beat fast, palm start to sweat, the feeling of you collapsing anytime.
A panic attack is a sudden feeling of intense fear. The most common reason for a panic attack is, becoming overly nervous (paranoia). But there are alot of uncertain facts, sometimes they just come and go for no reason.
When a person is under attack, they react by fighting the attacking entity, or running away. In either case, loads of adrenaline is released into the bloodstream to make muscle strength and speed the best that it can be.

Sometimes, though, the brain is fooled into thinking the person is under attack by thoughts that the person is having. The brain may release a little adrenaline . . . since the muscles are not working at that time, they cannot burn up the adrenaline, and you . . . well, feel like you are under attack. This can turn into an anxiety attack.

Over time, more and more adrenaline is released for less and less stressful thoughts.

Eventually, the person experiences a full-blown release of adrenaline which can cause shaking, pounding heart, cold clammy hands, an absolute need to empty the bowels, and so on. (Emptying the bowels explosively is a reflex action taken by animals, too, when they are attacked.)

Next thing you know, you react in a panic as if you were under attack without apparent reason. This is called panic disorder, and it usually needs treatment with relaxation techniques and very specific types of tranquilizers. The outlook once treatment begins is excellent.

Are you healthy if you just had a panic attack?

Panic attacks can arise from a number of factors. If your friend was able to recover from the panic attack within 10 minutes, as well as doesn't have a history of panic attacks, she is more than likely healthy enough to visit a doctor. A visit to the physician would be the best way to determine the status of your friend's health. However, panic attacks are common and do not in themselves signify danger. A panic attack is best understood as a symptom of another underlying cause.
