Most people would probably pinpoint the death of Simon as the most emotional event which occurs in the book. The aftermath of it leaves Ralph in a state of shock, as he realises the depths to which the boys, and indeed himself, have sunk. Piggy tries to treat the matter logically and practically, it's done and can't be undone and to lessen the impact he attempts to lay some of the blame on to Simon himself. Samneric try to pretend that it never happened, they are in self denial. Jack simply dismisses it as a 'trick' of the beast, something intellectually intriguing but of little or no significance.
In "Lord of the Flies," the game the boys play after the hunt is a pig-killing game where they reenact the hunt by pretending to be the pig and being chased and eventually "killed" by the other boys. The game becomes increasingly violent and ritualistic, foreshadowing the descent of the boys into savagery and chaos.

Simon is mistakenly identified as the "beast" during a ritualistic dance, and the boys, in their heightened state of fear, attack and kill him. The group's mob mentality and primal instincts lead them to commit this act of violence against Simon, mistaking him for the beast.
In Chapter 9 of "Lord of the Flies," the boys' game of reenacting the pig hunt takes a dark turn when they become overtaken by a frenzied tribal dance. The game transitions into a real hunt as they become consumed by savagery and lose touch with their humanity, ultimately leading to the tragic death of Simon. This scene symbolizes the complete descent of the boys into barbarism and foreshadows the violence and chaos that will continue to unfold on the island.
