A sea-floor earthquake can displace a massive amount of water. It is this sudden displacement that create the movement of water outwards. This movement can often be hardly noticed from a ship out in deep ocean. But, once the movement reached shallow water, the bottom layer is slowed down by friction with the sea bed, but the top layer will still be travelling fast. That is when the top layer begins to heighten and curl over into a high wave. The tsunami crashes onto the beach and will flow inland, and will cause the initial damage and loss of life. As the wave picks up debris and carries forward, further damage is caused as the wave retreats, carrying debris out to sea (a double damaging blow). It may be that further waves are to follow - caused by the rippling ring effect shown when a stone is tossed into a pond.
The most common underwater causes of tsunami are earthquakes and volcanoes. The event causes a large column of water to be displaced and moved out from the source. See the related question about the causes of tsunami for more detail about this question and about other causes of tsunami that may not start underwater.

A tsunami happens after an abrupt movement of the ocean floor. The most common causes are from earthquakes and underwater landslides.
it should form a underwater earthquake and causes a Tsunami
A Tsunami is generated by an underwater earthquake.
When the plates underground ( not the eating plates ) collide it causes what we call a tremor or simply an earthquake. This can also happen underwater but we call it a tsunami.
