What causes a low lymph blood count?

There are several things that can cause low lymphocytes in your blood. Lymphocytes are the white cells in your blood which are your bodies defense system against viral problems and infections.

Low white cell count can be caused by many things as I've mentioned above & it really depends on how low your lymphocytes are. But basically low lymphocytes are caused by immunity problems (weak immune systems) or infections. Low lymphocytes can also sometimes indicate a blood disorder. Viral infections can cause a temporary drop in lymphocytes. Opportunistic pathogens in a person with HIV can cause a decrease in lymphocytes whereas in a healthy person, they would not. Aplastic anemia or other disorders of the bone marrow can cause a lack of or low production of lymphocytes. Also, certain inherited immune issues can cause abnormally low counts. Certain drugs, especially those associated with radiation, chemotherapy, or steroid treatments can cause temporarily lowered counts as well. Some cancers in of themselves can also lower lymphocyte levels. Certain neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Guillain-Barre syndrome cause lymphocyte counts to be low, as can autoimmune issues such as rheumatoid Arthritis.

I wish someone would tell me because mine has been low for months and apart from a suggestion that I have an HIV test to rule out AIDS (thankfully negative), none of the quacks I have seen seem to know what the problem is.
