More thunder would be caused by more lightning.
Assuming you mean does there have to be rain where you are for you to hear thunder, the answer is no. Thunder can be heard from quite a distance so the thunder may be happening a distance away where it's raining, and it not be raining where you are. There's also a phenomenon called dry thunder where there is rain from the clouds but it evaporates before it reaches the ground. This is more likely to happen in deserts and other arid places.
Lightning is more dangerous than thunder because it can cause injury or death if it strikes a person or object. Thunder, on the other hand, is merely the sound produced by lightning as it heats the air and creates a shockwave.
I believe it is "tonnerre." There may be more than one word, depending on the use and context of the word in a sentence.
Thunderstorms occur on warm days because warm air rises, creating an updraft. As the warm air rises, it cools and condenses into clouds, eventually forming thunderstorms. The rapid movement of air and moisture within the storm system leads to the development of thunder and lightning.
Lightning is hotter than the surface of the Sun and causes rapid heating of the air. This in turn causes the air to expand then cool & contract equally rapidly thus causing the thunder. You see the light of the flash almost instantly but the sound arrives a lot more slowly (it takes about 5 seconds for every mile distant). A lightning bolt can be several miles long with forks going off in different directions so you hear the sound of the nearest part first followed by that from the farther away parts over the following seconds, gradually getting fainter the farther away it is. Plus the sound bounces of the clouds, surrounding terrain, buildings etc. all adding to the rumble.

Actually thunder is better than shockwave. Because thunder causes more damage and can attack all kinds of Pokemon.but shock wave is a good move for partime and it is good or powerful for bird Pokemon like zapdoz.Thunder is best move for a thunder Pokemon and shock wave is best for bird thunder Pokemon .

A thunder bolt is simply an incorrect name for a lightning bolt. And, since lightning carries much more energy than thunder, the "thunderbolt" is NOT weaker than thunder.
