Why do elements appear more than once in the periodic table?

The modern periodic table doesn't, but someone probably organized the periodic table by characteristics. A few elements have multiple characteristics of various groups or periods.... Ergo, it would be fitting to place an element in multiple spots of the table as seen fit. Hope this helps (:

Atomic weight

What can you tell about the properties of this element?

The periodic table can be used to quickly determine characteristics (number of valence electrons for example) of an element.

Electrons are nice.

What is the place of an element in the modern periodic table determined by?

The number of protons in an atom of the element.

How can the periodic table be used to predict the properties of an element that has not been discovered?

It can't. the properties of an element determine it's group placement, without knowledge of these properties (or, indeed, the element itself) it would be impossible to place an element in it's proper place on the periodic table.

What is the answer to this periodic table element pun what is a storage place for a car?

What is the element system?

The Periodic Table of the Elements contains every element known to man. On the Periodic Table, the elements are classified into periods (rows) and groups (columns). Elements are placed near elements with similar characteristics to them.
