Montresor is very calm and unhesitant in his ways. Nobody would have guessed that we would kill Fortunato by burying him alive. He uses his environment and Fortunato to his advantage. He knows that Fortunato would definitely follow him if he told him that he found a pipe of Amontillado. He basically planned every single thing he was going to do to Fortunato
