Chemicals in air pollution can be solids, liquids or gases. Examples of each are:
Soot, inorganic dust, fumes, road dust, metal fines, chaff, sawdust, paint over spray
Aerosols, cooling tower drift, hydrocarbons
NOx, SOx acid vapour, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, aldehydes. ketomes, solvents, products of decomposition

Natural processes will eventually remove air pollutants, if we stop inputting them at such massive levels.
