There are 9 cities in Ireland:

Dublin

Cork

Limerick

Galway

Waterford

Kilkenny

Armagh

Derry

Belfast

*Note that in Ireland the term "city" refers to a much larger urban area than in some countries, and what in Ireland might be referred to as a town, would be called a city by people in other countries.

Four;

Belfast (Capital city), Londonderry and in recent years the present queen made Lisburn and Newrycities.

many argue that these should not have been named cities because as they do not hold the numbers or features a city requires.
