An Altostratus cloud describes a gray cloud, usually seen in a flat or sheet formation. These clouds tell us that a warm front is coming. Sometime these clouds are made from ice crystals.

Flat? Do you mean in a row or staggered (mag)? I don't use actual flats but mags are best for gray shading and blending color, lose rounds are good for uniform flat color.
Cumulus clouds bring fair weather, with a hint of gray in their flat bases. They can possibly grow into cumulonimbus clouds, which bring heavy rain, thunder, and lightning.
