What color is not in the rainbow?

Rainbow colors are: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet (ROYGBIV). As a 'rainbow' is refracted light it is something that is hard to study, although it can be reproduced to a point. I would say that all colors, basically, are there. It simply depends on where you are when you can see it. Black, and white, and mixtures of 1) colors that are not next to each other and/or 2) colors already listed (pink, brown, dark blue, red violet, tan, goldenrod, hot pink...) are not in the rainbow.

The rainbow is created by refracting white light into separate colors, which is why there is no white, and black is the absence of color. Truly, black and white are not colors when referring to light, but the primary and secondary colors will be present in a rainbow. Other "colors" such as camouflage will not be visible.

A rainbow consists of all the colours with wavelengths between red and violet. Commonly this is reduced to red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, violet but really there are an infinite number of colours. Complex colours made by mixing colours with multiple wavelengths do not appear in a rainbow... e.g. brown. Black (no light) and white (all wavelengths together) also don't appear in a rainbow.
