Cherokee Rose is the name of the state flower of Georgia. It is native to China, and grows as a flowering shrub. The blossoms are single, white, and may be fragrant. In the Trail of Tears legend, the Cherokee women were crying so much that the elders prayed for a sign to lift their spirits and give them hope. The next day, when they cried, a rose formed where the tear fell.
