The problem answering this question is that "sandstone" can be several different colors ranging from shades of pink to green to brown. Ithink of sandstone as a taupe, which is a mixture of brown and grey. When you add pure white to a color to make it lighter, it can take on a pastel look. I suggest you use a light cream instead of white and add very small amounts of brown and grey to arrive at the shade you want. And I mean VERY SMALL. You can always add more. Because cream has a little yellow and brown in it, start by adding the grey. Make sure it is NOT a blueish grey. Then add the brown little at a time til you arrive at a pale taupe.
mix brown and white with a dab of yellow
You would mix black and white i suppose
Lila, Violet
mix white with a hue
In order to make off-white you have to mix white and another color. The second color can be any color, but a traditional off white would need a reddish orange. You need to mix a very small amount of the color with a very large amount of white.
you would get lavender, depending on how much white you use
On a color palette, it would be white then black. White is the absence of color. Black is a mix of all colors.
you can mix any color with white
usually to get sky blue ... you mix blue and white. like how you mix red and white for pink, you mix a color with white to get the lighter version of the color. hope i helped!
