fuel oil for a boiler and off road diesel is usually died red. diesel in my area has a yellow tint, I've heard of other shades in other parts of the country
The fuel-oil mixture enters the fuel-oil separator. Since the oil is denser than the fuel, by centrifugal separation, it will separate the oil and fuel. the fuel will be on top and the oil will be at the bottom.
Oil is a fossil fuel.
Cargo ships predominantly use "Fuel Oil". When crude oil is refined the ligher oils [petrol, kerosene, Diesel, etc] are extracted from the top. The remaining oil is Fuel oil. This is a low quality fuel that is dark brown/black in colour and very viscous [thick]. the fuel does not flow well under normal temperature. It is generally heated up to 80 deg C before being injected into the engine.

Cooking oil can be converted to diesel fuel
The density of fuel oil can vary depending on the type and grade of oil. Typically, the density of fuel oil ranges from about 0.85 to 1.05 grams per cubic centimeter.
Someone is putting it there. There is no way for oil to get from the engine to your fuel tank by natural means. Literally, if you have oil in your fuel tank, someone is sabotaging your vehicle by putting the oil there.
BP primarily makes fuel from crude oil. They extract oil from underground reserves, refine it in oil refineries, and then distribute various fuel products like gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel to consumers.
