a grey male, because all female chinchillas are more tempermental than males, and if you want to breed them, then you should never ever breed two black velvets together, as they will most certantly fight. i would say from 50 years experience then you should have a grey male.
The most common type of chinchilla is grey
There are no 'breeds' of chinchilla, but the most common colour is a standard grey
I'm not joking, the genus is called Chinchilla. Out of that there are two species: Chinchilla lanigera and Chinchilla brevicaudata. The former is the most common for household pets. Look at that website to see a picture showing the difference between the two: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chinchilla_-_croquis_comparatif.svg
It really depends on personal preference. If you pair orange with a colour which is near to it on the colour wheel, then it should look nice to most people, meaning it is a complimenting colour. However, if you put orange with a contrasting colour such as green or blue or purple, then to most people it will look horrible.

chinchilla. they're fur is so soft.
Yes, a chinchilla can have a warm water bath. The most important thing when bathing a chinchilla is to be absolutely sure they are 100% dry when you are done. You can dry them with a blow dryer (set it to LOW so you dont burn your pet).
