Several companies produce 1u rack servers. Companies like Dell and IBM are well known for their manufacturing of these servers. Also a little less known company Supermicro makes them.
rack space refers to how many slots the server ocupies in a rack, eg 1U 2U--the U representing 1 slot.
Actually "1U" refers to "one rack unit" - so this is a server that will be placed in a rack. Such servers can be purchased by dedicated stores specialized on commercial products, like for example "SuperMicro" or "ServerMonkey" (here one could find for example refurbished servers at a very low price!).
Colocation America is a server provider for data networks. 1U colocation is a service they provide for their clients, which primarily involves data storage.
1U servers can be located on a rack, which is a frame made of metal that holds hardware. Alternatively, you can put one in a cabinet, which is like a rack only covered and can be accessed through a door.
1.75 inches. Also known as 1U.
A good 1u rackmount server has a fairly affordable price. From many stores and retailers that sell these rackmount servers, a price for a good one comes at about $300 to $400.
U is the standard unit of measure for designating the vertical usable space, or height of racks (metal frame designed to hold hardware devices) and cabinets (enclosures with one or more doors). This unit of measurement refers to the space between shelves on a rack. 1U is equal to 1.75 inches. For example, a rack designated as 20U, has 20 rack spaces for equipment and has 35 (20 x 1.75.) inches of vertical usable space. Rack and cabinet spaces and the equipment which fit into them are all measured in U.

Any rackmounted case will be good. Rackmounted cases are measured in "U", with 4U being a typical computer and 1U being very slim.
It is standard 1U high, adjusts from 22 inches to 36 inches front to back, fits a standard 19" wide rack and has a 500 lb. weight capacity plus 4 mounting holes per 1 U space
The Dell Poweredge 1850 comes in a 1U rack, provides up to two single or dual core Xeon processors, and can provide a maximum of 16 GB DDR2 memory. Furthermore it provides two 1" SCSI Ultra 320 drive bays, and a dual embedded Intel gigabit NIC (Network Interface Card).
