Condensed genetic material or double stranded chromatin is a chromosome. Chromosomes are long strands of DNA tightly wrapped around histone 'beads' which help to pack it down to fit within the cell. The cells of your body are absolutely tiny, but inside every one of them is close to 2 metres of DNA, so it's absolutely necessary to pack it down as small as possible. The tight structure of chromosomes allows for this, and also aids in making mitosis simpler for the cell.

the two separate pieces of genetic material that form the chromosomes are called chromatids. within them is all of the alleles (segments of DNA) that will eventually be used in the offspring to express certain traits.

Condensed genetic material or chromatin that is doubled stranded?

Condensed genetic material or double stranded chromatin is a chromosome. Chromosomes are long strands of DNA tightly wrapped around histone 'beads' which help to pack it down to fit within the cell. The cells of your body are absolutely tiny, but inside every one of them is close to 2 metres of DNA; so it's absolutely necessary for the body to pack it down as small as possible which is how why we end up with chromosomes. the tight structure of them also aids in making mitosis simpler for the cell.

Are chromosomes made of DNA and proteins?

Yes, chromosomes are made up of DNA and proteins. DNA is a long, double-stranded molecule that carries genetic information, while proteins help to organize and compact the DNA into a condensed structure called chromatin. When cells divide, the chromatin further condenses into visible structures called chromosomes.

What is chromatin materials?

In a cell which is not dividing, this DNA is present as part of chromatin material.

Do ribosomes help maintain the structure of chromosomes?

Chromatin is the condensed form of DNA wrapped tightly around the histones coiled over and over again. So technically DNA is the genetic material that rRNA (ribosomal RNA) is generated from. You can say that ribosomes the proteins themselves are transcribed originally from condensed DNA, or chromatin.

What you a chromatin?

I'm not a chromatin, but chromatin is the long strands of genetic material floating in the nucleus

What is chromatin in your body?

chromatin is coiled threads containing the genetic code

Strands of genetic material floating in the nucleus are referred to as what?

The strands of genetic material floating in the nucleus are chromatin. Chromatin is the combination of DNA that makes up the nucleus of the cell.

What do a chromatin do?

a chromatin is a material in the cell that contains DNA and carries genetic information

What is the difference between cromatin reticulam and cromosome?

Chromatin refers to the combination of DNA and proteins that make up the genetic material in the cell nucleus. It is a loosely organized structure. Chromosome, on the other hand, is a condensed and tightly coiled structure formed by the packaging of chromatin during cell division. Chromosomes are visible under a microscope and are essential for cell division and the transmission of genetic information.

What uncoiled dna like thread?

Chromatin is the uncoiled form of DNA that resembles a thread-like structure. It consists of DNA wrapped around proteins called histones, which help organize and compact the DNA into a condensed form. When DNA is uncoiled and in the form of chromatin, it allows for easier access and transcription of the genetic information stored in the DNA.

What job does the chromatin?

a chromatin is a material in the cell that contains DNA and carries genetic information

what is the chromatin?

small strands of genetic material
