If you don't eat for 3 days, im assuming that it would be in an attempt to lose weight, or fast for religious purposes, however, if you are trying to lose weight, fasting will have the opposite affect of what you are trying to accomplish. By fasting you are slowing down your metabolism which is what burns those calories. Your body will also go into starvation mode, which happens when the brain releases a triggering chemical into your system after it has been deprived of food for any amount of time. Your body will then begin to store fat, as a survival technigue. This is the opposite of what you want, believe me. To lose weight, cut down your calories, by just 100 calories a day, and even if you don't partake in any form of exercise, this will allow you to lose about 10 pounds a year. Now if you are up to some form of exercise, I would suggest about 30 to 60 minutes a day for about 5 days a week. You will want to include cardio exercises like running, power walking, and biking, to suggest a few. You should then begin to experience weight loss. About 2 to 3 pounds a week is healthy.

a human can survive without food for many many days. however by the third day, your body is well into dipping into its fat reserves for energy. You would begin to feel tired and may even become sick as your body begins to think that its dying. You will retain more water than normal and some parts of your body may begin to swell from this excess water. Your stomach will shrink and you will begin to ache all over, become anxious, break into cold sweats and even possibly begin to show signs of massive fatigue. in extreme cases, people have been known to show signs of serious mental illness and some bodily functions may cease operation, most notably the kidneys.

Given that the question addresses that the subject is already depressed, signs of mental illness are all but certain. Paired with depression, the person may just sleep 16-20 hours a day and in some cases seem fine physically. The human body can sometimes create a "cocoon like" environment, throttling down the body's functions to minimal life sustaining levels. People suffering from depression have been known to do this relatively often, however if one finds themselves doing this on a regular basis, seeking immediate medical attention is best. An evaluation by a psychiatric professional is advisable as well.

You starve the body of the nutrients it needs to grow or maintain life. Also, when you binge diet your body thinks you are going to starve so that when you do begin to eat again your body wants to store everything as fat. SO, if you have been dieting remember to get some exercise in as you resume eating so your body burns the calories properly.
