Wind turbines are the devices used to harness wind energy and convert it into electricity. They consist of large blades mounted on a tower, which capture wind currents. The blades turn a rotor connected to the main shaft, which spins a generator to produce electricity. Wind turbines are a clean, renewable energy source, contributing to sustainable power generation with minimal environmental impact. They are commonly used in wind farms in both onshore and offshore settings.
For electrical generation: A wind-turbine coupled via speed-increasing gears to an alternator whose output is suitably regulated to give a reasonably consistent supply.
BTW there's nothing new in wind power. Windmills were developed for grain grinding centuries ago, possibly late-Mediaeval times. Wind-powered pumps drawing water from boreholes are familiar machines in many parts of the world; and of course for draining the polders in early Dutch reclamation schemes. The late 19-early 20 C saw a lot of development on wind- and water- turbines for driving industrial machinery generally.

Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic panels or PV panels, are the devices used to convert solar energy into electricity. These panels consist of multiple solar cells, usually made of silicon, which absorb sunlight and convert it into direct current (DC) electricity. This DC electricity is then converted into alternating current (AC) through an inverter for use in homes, businesses, or the power grid. Solar panels are commonly installed on rooftops or in large solar farms to harness the sun's energy and generate clean and sustainable electricity.

They harness wind energy and convert this to mechanical energy to grid flower or pump water or to drive a generator to make electricity.
It means to convert the energy to a form that is useful for humans - for making machines work, for example. Or simply, convert to a form of energy that is easily converted to other forms of energy, for example, AC electricity, at an appropriate voltage.
