People with Type One Diabetes (or Juvenile Diabetes) are NOT always born with it. Type One Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder where the body has attacked its own insulin producing cells, leaving the body unable to produce insulin and therefore unable to regulate the blood sugar levels in the body.

While this autoimmune disorder occurs most often during the years of childhood, it can happen at any point in a person's life, resulting in having Type One Diabetes.

I have Type One Diabetes, and I was not born with it, but acquired it when I was 15 years old.

I am a diabetic and I wad not born with diabetes. My doctor says there is a hormone in breast milk that could cause diabetes, though.
