That's mostly a matter of personal opinion, seeing as they never sword fought each other, so we can't really be sure. But I would say most likely Aragorn.
If it is in the Hobbit, it is to get Bilbo started on his adventure. If it is in the Fellowship of the Ring it is to have the ring returned to the mountain to be destroyed.
Gimli is smaller than a man, but taller than a hobbit. I'd say about 4 ft. Gimli is about 4 feet 4 inches (132 cm) and Frodo is just under 4 feet (120 cm/1,20 m). Aragorn is 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm/1,98 m).

It never says in the movie, but it does say he was raised in Rivendell. According to Tolkien, Aragorn was born in the region known as Eriador (a large area where most of the early action of the movies takes place).

The first and primary protagonist in the Lord of the Rings is Frodo Baggins, close relative to Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit. However, in Book 2, Tolkien splits the story into three storylines. Frodo continues as a protagonist; however, now Aragorn, Merry and Pippin are also protagonists, the story following all of their perspectives as the world of Middle-earth readies for war.
My answer would have to be Sauron. Or if you want a 'good guy' I would say Aragorn.
I would say that they are all very important but I, personally, like the fellowship of the ring because they are all working together but the return of the king is action packed ! But each would not be as good and complete without the others !
the main characters in the lord of the rings are: (The 9 members of the Fellowship) Frodo Baggins Gandalf the grey/Gandalf the White Samwise Gamgee Aragorn son of Arathorn/Strider Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry) Peregrin Took (Pippin) Legolas Greenleaf Gimli son of Gloin Boromir of Gondor: He dies at the end of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' (film) He dies at the beginning of 'The Two Towers' (book) hope i helped!! and the other important characters are: Saruman Sauron Smeagol/Gollum Some other characters are: Faramir Lord Denethor King Theoden Eomer Galadriel Eowyn Arwen Undomiel Haldir Orcs Uruk-hai Lurtz Elrond Bilbo Baggins
