What nicknames did the Tuskegee airmen get?

The Tuskegee Airmen have their own official website. It is called the tuskegeeairman org and it has a list of all the men who were in this group. I did not see individual nicknames but you can look up each airmen on their site. They were called the Tuskegee Airmen because they trained at the airbase in Tuskegee, Alabama. The organization's site also lists their squadron and where they flew.

China Burma theatre same as Steven Speilberg's dad. Rush's Dad and Speilberg's dad both flew B-25 Mitchels, and Rush's Dad flew P-51s and B-17s, and after the war trained pilots so he was what one would consider "expert" flier!

What airplanes were in d-day?

I Belive that there were p-51s,dc-3s and other ones that im not sure about. The Allies used thousands of planes for bombing and attacking the German troops and supplies. They sent all the aircraft that could be used in any way. So basically, any aircraft that was stationed in UK was sent to support the invasion. On the day of the invasion, the German air force only sent two FW-190 fighters to attack the troops.

How much does it cost to buy a p-51 mustang?

$50,000 - $60,000In 1945-1950 US DollarsThats probably x 310 if youre converting it on today's dollarsMore InformationThe USAAF paid North American Aviation around $51,000 per plane in 1945. Inflation since then would put that cost at approximately $650,000 in today's money.Though more than 15,000 P-51s were built, only around 150 survive in flyable condition worldwide. A number of these have been converted to a tamdem two-seat cockpit configuration, and are used for commercial "fly the legendary Mustang" enterprises.Occasionally, one comes up for sale. Asking prices I've seen start at around $1.5 million, but actual sale price data is not readily available.

Are P-51 Mustangs used today for military use?

No. There's only a handful of P-51s still airworthy, and they are mostly used at airshows and to do flyovers at special events. The flying P-51s today are all in private hands. If you get a chance to see one, don't pass it up. Most WWII aircraft became obsolete right after the war ended, as jet aircraft became more practical and were adopted by the leading air forces. US B-29 bombers were still used in Korea, and so were P-51s, but that was the last combat for them. The Spanish air force was still flying German Bf 109s in the late 1960s. The DC 3 cargo plane was called a C 47 by the US Army Air Force, used to haul cargo and drop paratroopers. Lots of those are still flying, some as airliners; there's one locally used as a fire plane to drop water on forest fires.

What city has a latitude of 51s and a longitude of 5E?

There are very few cities that happen to be right at whole-number intervals of latitude and longitude; cities generally grow up around geographical features such as rivers and bays. In this case, these coordinates are in an open field in central Belgium, midway between the villages of Molenstede and Sherpenheuven Zichem. The nearest cites are each about 25 miles away; Antwerp to the northwest, and Brussels to the southwest.

How many planes were used in Normandy?

Well there were quite a few C-47s "Sky-trains" which transported paratroopers [Such as the men in Band of Brothers and the fictional Prvt. James Francis Ryan in Saving Private Ryan]. And there were P 51s "tank busters" used later on [those are American]. 11,590 aircraft were available to support the landings. On D-Day, Allied aircraft flew 14,674 sorties, and 127 were lost.
