There is no documented evidence to suggest that Banneker belonged to any particular religious sect; however, he is known to have visited Quaker meetings. He believed in the Christian bible as taught to him by his grandmother, white English indentured servant Molly Welsh. He had a strong faith in the "fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man." In the book that I am writing on Banneker, I suggest that he has had two major spiritual influences in his life: Quakers and Masons.
