John James Audobon was an artist and studied birds. He painted beautiful and realistic birds by using a type of grid to make sure the proportions were right. He compiled 435 works of art together in Birds of America. He also wrote Kentucky Sportswhere he talks about a frontiersman's skill with a rifle. He is well known for his studies of birds.
