Woodrow Wilson did not want to see a repeat of World War I. He wished to create a League of Nations, what today we would call the United Nations, for the sole purpose of diplomatic solutions to international disputes. Unfortunately, the United States Congress did not all the U.S. to join the very League that Wilson desired to keep peace.
