Freely elected governments
At the Potsdam conference (I think)
From Japan, Truman demanded unconditional surrender. From Stalin, Truman demanded free elections throughout Eastern Europe.
From Stalin, whose troops occupied most of Eastern Europe, Truman demanded that free elections be held in those countries. Unfortunately, the Soviets controlled the governments and ensured that communist puppet parties gained power, leading to the Warsaw Pact and Russian hegemony.

Additionally, he was frustrated by the lack of progress on key issues, including reparations and the establishment of democratic governments in Eastern Europe, which foreshadowed rising tensions in the Cold War.
The atomic bomb test
The Potsdam Conference, held from July 17 to August 2, 1945, was a meeting of the Allied leaders—Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill (later replaced by Clement Attlee), and Harry S. Truman—following World War II. It also addressed issues related to Eastern Europe and the ongoing conflict with Japan. The conference laid the groundwork for the geopolitical landscape of the Cold War.
