The first official US $1 coin was the so-called "flowing hair" dollar, introduced in 1794. It featured a nondescript image of Miss Liberty on the front and a very scrawny eagle on the reverse side.
The flowing hair design only lasted a year and a half; it was replaced in mid-1795 with a somewhat more elegant "draped bust" portrait of Miss Liberty on the front while the eagle's image remained unchanged.

Sorry, no US dollar coins exist dated 1964. Eisenhower first appeared on the dollar coin in 1971. The coin is likely a 1964 Kennedy HALF dollar. Look at the coin again and post new question.
