The first official US $1 coin was the so-called "flowing hair" dollar, introduced in 1794. It featured a nondescript image of Miss Liberty on the front and a very scrawny eagle on the reverse side.

The flowing hair design only lasted a year and a half; it was replaced in mid-1795 with a somewhat more elegant "draped bust" portrait of Miss Liberty on the front while the eagle's image remained unchanged.

What is the value of a 1776 e pluribus unum silver dollar?

First thing is, the coin is a Eisenhower dollar with the dual date of 1776-1976, NOT a E-PLURIBUS-UNUM coin, This Latin phrase is the National Motto and is on every coin, just look in your pocket. The first US silver dollar was struck in 1794. Unless the coin is Proof, it's just a big dollar coin, spend it.
