The lame man was healed by Peter (the disciple) who had come up to the temple with John (another disciple). This healing occurred soon after Jesus' had gone up into heaven.The lame man asked Peter and John for alms as they were about to enter the temple, but instead of giving him alms, as the lame man expected, Peter looked at him saying "Look at us".
