Rutherford was expecting the result to be what JJ Thomson had predicted. That the Alpha Particles just pass through the gold foil, not rebound, like the result. JJ Thomson thought of this result because of his plum pudding model.

How did Rutherford's experiment shape our current model of the atom?

In 1910, a physicist from New Zealand, Ernest Rutherford performed an experiment known as Rutherfordâ??s gold foil experiment. After Rutherford's theory, scientists began to consider that the atom is not a single particle, but it is made up of very smaller subatomic particles.

Do the alpha particles in Rutherford's experiment contain electrons?

Alpha particles are helium-4 nuclei; they do not contain electrons.

Who conducted the gold foil experiment to discover the nucleaus?

Ernest Rutherford was responsible for the Gold Foil experiment. A great portion of Ernest Rutherford's research included the study of alpha particles.

What experiment convinced Ernest Rutherford thet atom has a small positively charged nucleus?

Rutherford used the gold foil experiment to figure out that an atom had charged particles in the nucleus

What is the main observation of the Rutherford's experiment?

Most of the particles went through the foil, but some were deflected

Experiment to test the absorpion of beta particles by thin sheets of aluminium?

Rutherford shot beta particles at gold foil to discover protons, but i have never heard of an aluminum foil experiment.

What part of the atoms caused the particles to bounce?

The heavy, dense nucleus of the atom caused the alpha particles to bounce back in Rutherford's experiment.

Who said atoms were made up of subatomic particles?

Rutherford proved it it from his alpha-particle scattering experiment.

When Rutherford performed his metal foil experiment did the alpha particles pass straight through the foil or bounce back?

The alpha particles beam is scattered.

In Rutherford's gold experiment particles in dense atomic nuclei caused some alpha particles to bounce straight back from the gold foil?

positive

Who worked with sir ernest Rutherford?

If you're talking about the experiment with the alpha particles, then it was Hans Gieger and Ernest Marsden.
