The Battle of Stalingrad was a crucial victory for the Russians. Because the battle was fought inside the city, German supplies such as grenades and firebombs were useless, whereas other supplies dwindled quickly in number with the surprise attacks the Russians could launch in a city they knew well. Finally, in 1943, the German commanded in Stalingrad disobeyed Hitler's commands to relieve the embattled troops and, instead, surrendered the ragged remainder of the army he had left. Perhaps one of the most shocking consequences was the number of casualties. More than a quarter of a million German, Romanian, and Italian bodies were found in the wrecked city. Two times that many Germans had died in the whole battle. The Russians suffered up to a million casualties, including 100,000 civilians. This was a huge victory for Russia, and a major defeat for Germany. After this battle, Hitler appeared less and less often in public, and his popularity dwindled along with it. Thus, the Battle of Stalingrad was key in destroying Hitler's popularity as well as being one of the most devastating battles in history.
That Battle of Stalingrad resulted in Germany losing their campaign against the USSR. Hitler sabotaged his own Barbarossa Operation by failing to supply his troops with subzero temperatures, food, ammo, planes, enough tanks and new soldier replacements. It also resulted in the death of his troops due to exposure to cold, starvation and sicknesses. The Germans had to give up and be captured. Of the many thousands of German Wehrmacht soldiers captured only five thousand returned to Germany at the end of the war. The entire invasion of the USSR resulted in twenty million dead Russian people and hundreds of thousand dead Germans. Therefore the Red Army had revenge on their minds when they invaded Germany. They killed and raped Germans by the hundreds of thousands.
The result of the Siege on Leningrad is that the Soviet eventually won after 871 days of fighting. However it did leave a bad scar onto Leningrad, During the siege other 1 million civilians died, mainly because of Starvation. Nazis almost wiped out the entire supplied at Leningrad. other 25,000 civilians died after the war at Leningrad because, of Hidden German Mines.
On a positive note, a result was that the "Road of Life, a ice road which was used to transport valued food reserves to the city of Leningrad becomes a monument. Also, Leningrad was awarded as a Hero City in 1945. 1,496,000 Soviet personnel were awarded the medal for the defence of Leningrad from 22nd December 1942.
