The wise men gave Jesus gold, frankincense and myrrh (pronounced murr). We do not know how many wise men there were. The three presents brought foreshadowed the future for Jesus. Goldrepresented that Jesus would be a king, frankincense, an aromatic gum from trees, used in worship among other uses, and myrrh, an aromatic resin which would later be used to anoint Jesus' body after the crucifixion.
