Rome is the location for the head of the Catholic Church, the Pope, currently Pope Benedict XVI. People come to see Rome and for Catholics visiting the various churches around the city is important. Most pilgrims will go to the Vatican and try to attend a Papal mass. Rome is full of history, and pilgrims will try to see many of the things that relate to Christian history.

∙ 10y agoPeople who go on pilgrimageto Rome mostly visit the Vatican City where the Pope lives. The most popular place of pilgrimage for Catholics to go is the The Great Synagogue of Rome. There is also a Sistine Chapel that is very popular. I LIED READ A BOOK!!

∙ 10y agoPilgrims try to attend a mass in Saint Peter's Basilica, perhaps attend a papal audince, visit the various museums of the Vatican, admire all the precious works of art found there, including the Sistine Chapel.

No. A pilgrimage is for anyone. Pilgrims go to special places. Some places are associated with sick people, like Lourdes, but some pilgrimages can be to special places that don't have a particular association with the sick, like Rome or Bethlehem. Even for places like Lourdes, most of the people who go on pilgrimages there are not seriously ill.
