What do Venus Flytraps smell of?

Venus Flytraps smell like any other plant to us but to other insects such as flies, they have a strong smell of dung which is what attracts them.

They won't attract stink bugs from what I've read. If you drop the bug into the container which has the trap and close it off, the stink bugs fate is sealed. They do not harm your VFT in any way as long as the trap can close around them. The stink doesn't affect the plant.

Against:

I disagree with the above answer. I have a Venus Flytrap. A stink bug went into it all on it's own. I did not put one in there and close the lid. And the stink bug was killing the pod that it was in - the rest of the plant is fine. The head that the stink bug was in started turning black and it was in there for over a week. I think it's just too big to digest. I cut the head off so it wouldn't hurt the rest of the plant.

Venus Flytraps do not smell bad, they actually smell sweet. They have a barely perceptible odor to the human nose.
