The Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus), the official bird of Quebec, averages 20 to 28 inches long, with a wingspan of 49 to 59 inches. Adult males are almost completely white, giving them the ultimate hunting disguise for their Arctic habitat. Females and young birds have some dark scalloping. and in the summer they develop small brown marks on their breast feathers.
