Owls do not build nests. The barn owl is a cavity nester: it needs a hole, semi-enclosed space, or old building to nest in. They have also been known to nest in caves and on the ground. The female uses her regurgitated owl pellets to create a substrate on which to lay her eggs. Since the pellets are composed of the fur of their prey, this "carpet" is a warm and dry place for eggs and young chicks.
The Barn owls's beak looks lik an arch but is very sharp at the tip. ☺
