James:4:1-4:

1: From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

2: Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

3: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

4: Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Lk:18:20: Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

There are a number of reasons and here are some of them:

1. Isaiah 2:4 - God will mediate between nations and will settle international disputes. They will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer fight against nation, nor train for war anymore.

2. Luke 6:27-36 - [27] "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you....

3. Matthew 22:39 - Love your neighbor as yourself...

And last but not the least, God is Love! (1 John 4:8) If all people will know the REAL God Jehovah, they will know that there is really no more reason to make war with each other.

The Just War theory was created by Augustine of Hippo and Thomas Aquinas to try and lay down some rules of war.

  • The damage inflicted by the aggressor on the nation or community of nations must be lasting, grave, and certain;
  • All other means of putting an end to it must have been shown to be impractical or ineffective;
  • There must be serious prospects of success;
  • The use of arms must not produce evils and disorders graver than the evil to be eliminated. The power of modern means of destruction weighs very heavily in evaluating this condition.

Wars did happen in the past both in earth and in heaven. And they must all happen with Divine reasons. Consequently, there is another war coming in the near future but it will probably be for the second coming of Christ, to put an end to all evil here on earth. That is the one The Bible calls, the Armageddon. Rev, 16:14,16

True Christians FOLLOW the example of Jesus Christ.

He showed love not only to those who believed in him, but also to his enemies.

He NEVER used any violence just to teach people the truth that he has about his loving Father in the Heavens. Jehovah sent his beloved Son as an example to mankind on how we should treat and love each other. John 3:16, Matthew 22:39.

Now, with regards to the oppressors, Jesus did not advise that we fight back but to love and forgive people who did something wrong to us. For Jehovah is the Supreme Justice of the Universe. He will be the judge who and how wicked people will be punished.

Lev. 19:18 "Thou shalt not avenge thyself, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am Jehovah." Darby Bible Translation.

Because one of the commandments set down by God was You shall not kill.

It should be noted that God has not always shown Himself opposed to war.

The imperative of that Commandment is against unlawful killing resulting in bloodguilt (the guilt of wrongfully causing death or shedding blood).

The Bible often praises the exploits of soldiers against enemies in legitimate battle. One of David's mighty men is credited with killing eight hundred men with the spear, and Abishai is credited with killing three hundred men. Of course, David himself is portrayed as a hero for killing Goliath in battle.

This, however, does not answer why some Christians are opposed to war. In the Biblical instances, the purpose of war was to remove the wicked races that threatened the Israelites' devotion to God, and ensure that, in all things, God alone be glorified.

Some Christians, particularly those in modern times, do not see how God can be glorified through war. War is ugly. It means death, illness, grief and loss. It means death of the innocent ones. That is something that any compassionate Christian does not want to see.

PEOPLE not just Christians can find a way to justify just about anything. Fact of the matter is, if we all lived by God's and Christ's commandments, which is fulfilled by LOVE (unconditional love, the kind of love that is impossible to show without the Holy Spirit) there would be no issues on earth.

Unfortunately for us, that is outside of Gods plan for the world and we are in a world surrounded by people in rebellion towards God.

Even more disheartening is the fact that people associate themselves as Christians and accept him as savior but not as Lord. 1 John makes it very clear that these people are Liars, and are In fact Antichrists. Of course the redeeming power of Christ could change that if they would truely believe and submit to him.

The bright side of all this is- it is Gods plan. Jesus made it very clear that before he would return there would be wars and rumors of wars (also other things, pick up a bible for more prophecy).

So then, if you believe in Christ then all this chaos in the world is paving the way for his return. If you don't, then it is a very scary time for you, however, with or without belief Christ will come again.
