You can tell a land hermit crab from a water hermit crab by looking at the claws/arms or legs. If it is a water crab it will be blueish and if land crab it will be pinkish purpleish. If your crab is a water crab don't just throw it in water and leave it there, put a tiny bowl in it's tank or cage that is low to the ground and make sure that the water level is a bit lower than the hermit crabs top of its legs. Also have a wet sponge for each kind of hermit crab in the crabs tank.
Land hermit crabs live on land and return to the ocean only to lay their eggs. They do require access to ocean salt water at all times for drinking and soaking. Land hermit crabs may submerge themselves in water for periods of time. However not being allowed to emerge from the water on their own, can lead to drowning. Land hermit crabs have modified gills which allow them to breath humid air. Therefore they can't breathe underwater.
Marine hermit crabs live completely underwater their entire lives and can't survive on land. i study marine animales so land hermet crabs are small but marine hermet crabs are larger
Well, A Land Hermit Crab Has A Purple Pincher. And a marine hermit crab has a red pincher.
~
Actually, there are many species of hermit crabs and many different color of pincher's, including some land crabs that have red pincher's and some marine crabs that have purple pincher's, so that isn't a accurate answer. however, if you look closely at the eyes, marine hermit crabs tend to have blueish eyes. marine hermit crabs also grow larger.
sand crabs have either a flat shell or no shell and hermit crabs always have a shell and plus a hermit crabs can tuck into their shells when a sand crab can't
Hermit crabs have a soft body that must be kept hidden in the shell of another animal, such as a snail. Other crabs have hard exoskeletons and need no other shell.
Hermit crabs are scroungers so they can eat almost anything. For a full list of foods, see the related link.

The relationship between a hermit crab and a shell is that thy are mutualism.
There is only one main difference between hermit crabs and barnacles. Hermit crabs have a hard exoskeleton that protects their bodies.
This is a difficult question. Odds are pretty good that you have some sort of marine hermit crab but there are thousands of marine hermit crab species. Without more specific information like size, color, shell type, location, etc. there's no way to know for sure.
They both are crabs right?
Absolutely. Marine hermit crabs (saltwater hermit crabs) also, like the land hermit crab, have a soft abdomen that is not protected by a hard exoskeleton, so they scavenge shells from snails as they grow to wear for protection. The marine hermit crab will also shed it's exoskeleton as it grows. This is a very fast process, taking only a few hours to a day compared to the molting process of the land hermit crab, which can take several days to a few months.

well mostly the difference between crabs and hermit crabs is that one is not born with a shell and one is. Also hermit crabs tend to be smaller
